Who are we?

Bed & breakfast ‘De Gastenkamer’ is been run by Adrie Huisman-Smedema (1968), born and raised in the village Ee. Adrie’s husband, Ed Huisman (1964), has his own glass construction company. Her daughter Laura (1999) has now graduated from the College of Marketing / Management and has found a nice job in Groningen where she also lives. Son Maarten (2005) is doing further training for the Maritime Academy in Harlingen.

What’s so special about Adrie her Bed and Breakfast is that the sense of feeling at home dominates. This is mainly due to the cosy design, something that can be entrusted by Adrie as a home stylist. For years she has been running her own furniture store, first in Amsterdam, later on in Ee. ‘’What distinguishes us is the basic stock of supplies in all of our accommodations, from coffee filters to tea lights, everything is present. Our goal is to unburden our guests completely. We see guests coming in stressed by arrival who will fully unwind during their stay. There are not as many incentives here as in the West part of the country. Due to the unique landscape, friendly people, and the healthy air, people will settle down whilst they are here. I can confirm, me and my husband have been living in Amsterdam for twelve years. It was a beautiful time but nothing beats the healthy environment on the Frisian countryside.’’
